Our trip to Dr. Mac's (photo's & story inside)

I thought I would make it's own thread for the trip.

Vin & Ryan road in my car. I've never met either of them, so when I went to pick Ryan up I had an awkward moment. I rolled up & saw someone standing outside talking on the phone at 7am. I assumed it was Ryan so I pulled up next to him and said "Ryan? His reply "Mike".. so awkward. It took about 3hrs from Central Jersey(Plainsboro) to get there. We met up with Jose & company at rest stop 2. We've never seen so many flea markets & farms on the side of the road in our life on the way down.

We arrived about 10:40am before they were supposed to be opened. We walked in, said hello to Becky, & were marveled on how CLEAN & SPOTLESS the place was. Then we proceeded to drool as we walked up & down the isles. We picked Kyle's(employee) brain for hours & he knew the name of every piece & was filled with crazy knowledge. Vin was the first to actually pick something out. It was all over from here. He had a small budget, but ended up going nuts, LOL. While we browsed Dr.Mac informed us pizza had arrived & we dug in!

After pizza we went back for more corals!! Vin said he was done picking corals about 5 times. Every time he looked, he wanted something else. Jose was just going nuts. I think he ended up with 38 frags or something of that sort. Me & Ryan stared long & hard & went slowww! It's just ridiculous the amount of frags they have.

If it wasn't for getting married & moving, I would of went nuts. I kept going back & wanting more. I stared & stared at the chalices. I just thought in my head "fiance will kill you.. or not marry you".

Dr.Mac & company were extremely nice & inviting. We will definitely be making this trip again!!

Very nice guys. I was on his site yesterday. Looking and I see you guys got some of the stuff I was checking out. Hopefully I can get there while I'm in ocean city. I might even bring a small holding tank with me to keep them safe while I'm there.

My thoughts exactly. I also thought it was interesting to see the "solarium" area with all of the windows - considering how often I read how bad it is to have a tank near a window.

Spoke to Kyle who work there and he told us they can't even put lps out there because the sun would burn them. Only sps, clams and inverts that need intense light can be placed outside. Also their system is cool and heated by thermal heating system which Dr. Mac explained to us which was pretty cool to hear. I would love to see if we can get him as a speaker for the swap event.

Dr. Mac is usually there selling with his wife. Not sure he would have time to speak while there also... but we can certainly ask him.
