Pump is in!!! Can’t wait to get it installed!
Was also able to wrestle my RODI system apart after letting it sit for 4+ years. Going to “pressure” test it with no cartridges first incase abs gaskets or fittings are broken. Hoping to be making water by Friday evening.
Picked up some caribsea...
I was able to fire up the lights to mess around with them a bit. So far I’m pretty happy. Looks like the spread is pretty good. They definitely aren’t as blue as they look in person.
Return pump and float switch for my ro will be here Wednesday. Still need to figure out a heater.
Thank you and thank you for the info on kp aquatics. I think that may be the direction I’m headed. I’m a bit nervous I won’t be able to pick what I want (size/shape) wise but I’m thinking I can get 1/2 kp for the life and 1/2 dry/base rock. Still kicking around a few ideas.
Thanks man, that’s the goal. Red Sea is making it pretty easy I must admit. Probably just zoas, mushrooms and fish for a while. With a near 3 year old and a second on the way not sure I’ll have the time for sps.
Thank you very much. I will definitely let you know. The app seems pretty straightforward as of now. Haven’t had a chance to connect the light to it yet, hoping tonight.
I can definitely see both sides to this. I love the look of a natural not overcomplicated tank, but there is something mesmerizing about a sterile looking sps reef that you know takes tons of work and equipment.
And here is where we stand.
My spectrapure order came today so I can change out all the canisters and membrane in my old RODI. So hopefully I’ll be making water soon.
And once again please excuse the messy kitchen. That will be a reoccurring theme with the tank placement…
I was also able to mount the lights to the tank. I have been extremely impressed with the instructions for installation up until this point. The light installation instructions left much to be desired. I think it’s due to the fact that they used to use ai hydras for the “deluxe” setup but now...
Here is the “finished product”. I’m I’m not sure how I feel about the ato reservoir but I’m willing to give it a shot. It hold approx 3 gallons and gravity feeds to a float switch.
One thing I wasn’t able to get pictures of was the “bulkheads”. The design was interesting to me. The “nuts” are basically fused to the tank bottom. You thread the plumbing into them and tighten by turning the plumbing not the “nut.” It snugged up surprisingly well.
More progress!!!
Sump unboxed
Once again super happy with the quality. Also seems to be a decent amount of room for a pretty compact sump.
Plumbing was a breeze.
There are two drains. One is the main, the one with the fancy valve to regulate, and an emergency. The main drain came with an...
I do unfortunately lol. I told a co-worker today that I forgot how expensive this was. I don’t even want to admit how much I spent on my lunch break today for the tank.
