It is really messed up that he abandoned the fish.
On that note, the man was evicted from the home, is this really the time to be fining him for animal cruelty to a fish?
This is just too much... I would say 40% of reefers have performed animal cruelty in that case (cycle fish)... what about...
2nd vinegar (if it's hard water - calcium carbonate - or any other basic salt residue) vinegar will remove it. Use straight distilled white vinegar on a paper towel/towel. Acetic Acid in vinegar should help dissolve anything mentioned above.
does the coral rx drive your skimmer crazy? I know I read it changes surface tension of the water, but it always drives my skimmer crazy, to the point i need to wet skim and then restart the skimmer.
In response to original poster, I use coral Rx
given that your nitrates are steady at 0.25 (and you are not having any algae blooms), I would not see any point in adding a refugium unless you wanted more bio fauna. 0.25 ppm is a perfect nitrate reading.
If you are having an algae bloom, the 0.25 ppm may not be a true number as the nitrates...
David, is the rock to the left of that leather able to be moved a tiny bit to give space? I'm sorry just saw the pic. That's an easy small change thats worth a shot give it an extra inch or two of space to spread out and open up.
There is no guarantee that it will cause it for you. I just know it caused it for me. My dinos always come back when my aquarium tests 0 nitrates (after adding chaeto - as diana said, dinos love chaeto).
My reef sits at 5 ppm nitrate without a fuge. From everything I have read, and my...
let me know how bringing the refugium back online goes. Last time I tried, Dino's came back in about two weeks. Came to terms that I can't run an extra low nutrient tank (whatever brand of dinos I have out competes the algae at low nutrient levels).
I will definitely have to at some point. I always swing through and read posts haha. Next one in the area I will try to bring the fam to. (Down in Brick)
I agree with Mrx. Unless there is noticeable damage to the dottyback from the harassment. Otherwise, let them work it out. Removing all the rock will definitely cause stress to everything. "Path of least resistance."
That said, I am at Aquarium Care Center every weekend. They have been nothing...
I would not dip it if it is inflating. My toadstool went through a 2 month period of not opening when I got it. It was punctured with a toothpick to attach it to its first rock. It pushed the toothpick out and floated away. It was then sewed onto a rock with fishing line. After a month of not...
Never filled out the introduction thread. My name is Matt, and I have been in the hobby since I was in high school. Had a 120 reef throughout high school/college. Tore it down when I moved out of parents. Started up a 75 about two years ago (however my wife and I had a baby - so I had to put the...
I would get it out if you know it's there. That said, I must have knocked one in at some point and found it rusted months later. No harm done (to my knowledge).
My personal 2 cents is there is nothing beneficial that it can do.

Do you have a filter sock and a siphon? If so, use the siphon to siphon the sand bed (detritus) into the filter sock (short term this will create a nitrate factory - do not change out filter sock, leave it for a few weeks.). Cut out lights to the sump. If you have a smaller...
So I just had a battle with dino after I added some chaeto into a refugium to my system (stripped all the nutrients from my water 0 Nitrate and 0 Phosphate). I had it under control within a week by removing the chaeto, taking the light off the refugium, and stopping water changes. I ran a siphon...
