That's what it seems. I don't need air when everything is running but, it would be nice to have in conjunction with the Vortech battery back-up. I did find one but, it runs off of "D" batteries. Would be nice if it was self charging.

I'm looking for an air pump that won't run when plugged into the wall but will turn on and run off a battery if power goes out. I want to place an air stone behind some rocks below one of my Vortechs
Unfortunately, the kevin rating on bulbs are not held to any standard. Each brand will give a different look even if they are the same K. Your best bet is to look around at other tanks and see what you like. Also keep in mind that each bulb will look different on different ballasts.
I have heard good thing about these two skimmers. I have not used either though. I have used the Aqua-c remora pro and would not recomend it.

Thanks. It came out pretty clean.
The stand is almost done, as well as the sump and refugium (15g and 20 high). This is a really busy time for me at work, so things are going alot slower than I would like.

That's diatoms. Nothing to worry about. That amount of food doesn't seem like too much. Diatoms come and go, especially in a young tank. I personally noticed pretty good outbreaks when ever I changed lights.
Brownish algae coupled with a change of lights sounds more like a Diatom bloom than a Cyano outbreak. A pic would be helpful. Cyano is usually bright red, thick and slimy.
Diatoms are nothing to worry about, they go away on their own in a couple weeks.

Starting slow is a good choice. If you really enjoy the hobby, you will venture into the more demanding corals and fish. Keep that in mind when picking out your...
Your sump/fuge design is fine. I had both overflows drain to the skimmer section on my 180. Just put a T and a ball valve on one of the drains to feed the refugium. Or you can T off of your return to feed the fuge, doesn't make much of a difference which one. Main thing with the fuge is low...
