Those are some good choices. Just keep in mind the Koralia pumps are not meant to be run on a wavemaker, they will burn out pretty quick like that. Also, I don't see a ph monitor on your list. A ph monitor is easier and more accurate than test kits. I woul scrap the Ranco controller and go with...
I wouldn't factor in the cost of a chiller right away. You may or may not nead one. I had a 65g with 2 - 150w MH and a 180g with 3 - 250w MH, never neede a chiller, temp never went above 83. Just a small fan blowing across the water surface of the tank or sump.
Water test didn't go quite as planned. I had a leak into the overflow cover and water was running out the holes in the bottom. I re-sealed the overflo cover and will try again tomorrow. :(
Overflow cover and euro-bracing done. I did a 3" brace along the front and sides and a 1 3/4" along the back to access the overflow. Water test tomorrow :-\
Glad to hear the clowns are doing well. Thinking about a pair of true percs or maybe Rod's onyx for this tank.
I'm going to euro-brace the top with a 2" wide strip of 3/8" glass. It really doesn't need it but, it sure can't hurt to have it.
I have most of the equipment I'll be using, just need to pick up a couple small tanks for sump and refugium...and build the stand. ;D
I tried really hard to stay within budget...not even close. ::)
Some assembly required...
Now we wait...
It's should cure enough over the weekend to move and then put in the overflow cover. I also think I'm going to euro-brace the top. This thing is alot bigger than I thought... ::)
It's really not time consuming, at least not at home. I'm building the tank at work where I have plenty of help to hold the glass and and keep it straight while it gets taped or clamped. The stand will also be built at work, we have a full carpentry shop as well as electrical, plumbing and sheet...
I picked up my glass today ;D. WOW, that stuff is heavy. The 5 pieces weigh about 190 lbs. I hope to get it all taped up between tomorrow and next Thursday and put it together next Friday.
Unfortunately, it's going to be a slow process. I just ordered the glass today to build the tank, should be ready in 2 weeks. Once I build the cube, I want to let the silicone cure for at least 2 weeks. With a little luck I'll be cycling by the end of the summer.
