I am getting ready to move my 180 to my new house and start the process of setting it up again. The tank was brand new and has just been sitting since August of 2012. It has never seen water.
Do I need to worry about the seals or anything since it has just been sitting?
I have the Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 10. I am having issues with algae on my rock work and red slime. I treat every two months with red slime remover and that takes care of it for the two months, but it always comes back.
I'm trying to decided whether to run the Innovative Marine MiniMax...
Paul....I can understand coming home with items you aren't supposed to, but aren't ribbons and medals usually given out by the officers in power at the time?
It is definitely that ribbon. But it says it was only given out until 1941. He didn't enter active service until 1945. Wikipedia says "The medal is authorized to military members who served on active duty between September 8, 1939 and December 7, 1941."
So confused!
My grandfather has two Navy Ribbons without the medals (don't know where the medals are). His DD-214 says he was awarded two medals, the American Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal. The ribbon on the left is the WWII Victory Ribbon. The one on the right through google searching I have found is...
Check out Shark River Inlet. A lot of tropicals get caught up in the gulf stream and end up here this time of year. Our ocean temps are surprisingly nice this time of year.
After seeing the thread started by @Mark_C on how his SPS started dying with increased tank temps....it got me thinking.
I have seen many reefers have this issue when their tanks reach temps 80-84 degrees, but is it different then in nature? It seems that once our tanks reach anything over 80...
Thanks @njtiger24 aquariums....I have been keeping my salt in the garage since December...I guess the humidity the last couple weeks was too much to handle. I probably have a bucket around somewhere....good idea!
I started buying the RC in the 200 gallon boxes since they are better value.
Thanks Paul (@redfishbluefish)!
First off....I NEVER use tap water, but in a situation like that, I wouldn't have had another choice as everywhere was closed by then. I didn't see your response in time, so I ran the water that I removed from the tank through a very fine sock and put it back...
After further examination I noticed the bag that the salt was in has a yellowish hue to it where the salt was touching. Did the humidity cause an imbalance in the salt? Should I use tap water with the new salt I have here?
