Why fish get bacterial infections
What You Need To Know:
* Infections can be caused by either Gram‐positive or Gram-negative bacteria. Gram-negative infections are typically more virulent, and more common in marine fish.
* Bacterial infections are often "secondary" to a preexisting parasitic...
I'm still experimenting, but I believe H2O2 is the future for quarantining marine fish. All this time the "answer" was sitting in a $2 bottle anyone can buy from Walmart.
^^ Just wanted to point out that there's no reason why 45 mins in formalin couldn't be used in lieu of H2O2: Formalin (use the bath treatment dosage)
45 minutes in formalin has the same killing effect on surface parasites/worms, and you can continue to run filtration/pumps with it in the water...

So, I wanted to start a discussing regarding the use of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) in conjunction with Tank Transfer Method. For those who may not be familiar with TTM read this: Tank Transfer...
I would give him a 5 min FW dip to see if any of those "white things" detach: Freshwater Dip – Marine Fish Diseases and Treatment
If they do, then it's probably worms of some sort (like flukes).
If the FW dip has no impact then it's probably viral lesions. However, treating with Metroplex +...
You can use something like this following the dosage instructions below: https://www.amazon.com/Formaldehyde-approx-grade-shipped-states/dp/B01LO8GOQ0
^^ Both options are effective, but the bath treatment exposes the fish (and you) to the carcinogen for the least amount of time.
Fenbendazole...
Turbellarians (black ich) are notoriously resistant to praziquantel.
I've had some success treating with hypo and giving Fenbendazole baths. But sometimes it's best to bring out the big guns and perform a 45 min formalin bath: Formalin – Marine Fish Diseases and Treatment
Post bath, transfer...
Below is a list of difficult fish to quarantine, with specific recommendations on QT strategies for each group of fish.
Moorish Idol
This is actually an easy fish to QT if you can just get it eating. They are tolerant of most medications and not overly susceptible to many diseases.
QT...

Angelfish (and their sensitivity to copper)
I've never figured out if angels being sensitive to copper is a "thing" or not. They do seem to fare a little better in Cupramine...
Preface - Freshwater (FW) black mollies have been used for years in saltwater aquariums for algae control. However, this write-up will focus on their potential for identifying marine fish diseases present in a display tank (DT) and also quarantine tank (QT). The most important detail is to...
It sounds like you may be dealing with velvet here, and if so time is of the essence. Therefore, I would combine copper with Prazipro. The water may turn a little cloudy (bacterial bloom), but you can compensate for that by pointing a powerhead towards the surface of the water in order to create...
API test kits are notoriously inaccurate. You'll get better results using a Red Sea or Giesemann ammonia test kit.
It does look like an injury to me; either self-inflicted from scraping himself or from the other clownfish.
Regarding the positive ammonia reading:
What test kit are you using?
Are there any chemicals/meds in the water which could be interfering with the ammonia test kit reading?
