It did actually attach! I didn't expect it to, though. I just cut a PVC pipe in half lengthwise, drilled holes in it, and zip tied the halves together. If I were to make another, I'd try and somehow glue or epoxy the halves together (in addition to the zip ties) to stop the halves from moving...
