Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
abalone aside - you have a lot of healthy bristle worms in that tank! They are not filter feeders - that much I know. I would think the cooler tank would have the more active one. Neat invert though.
Thanks - the end goal message of saving the reefs is important. I'm just totally unimpressed with the delivery in this article.
"The new coral is left to fade in color for 30 days before being transplanted, because the bright colors of new coral may inspire fish to be too aggressive with it"...
Ich is entirely preventable through proper quarantine. Some owners go a step further and will medicate asymptomatic fish prior to introduction to main display. The old proverbial saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment" is 100% true as it relates to reefkeeping...
Regarding the ATO - i'm not familiar with the ice cap one, but i've used the Tunze Osmolator for many years now and would definitely suggest researching it. It's pricey but i've never had a problem with the ATO.
for the BTA you can try aiming a powerhead directly at it. I also read that cold (i.e. ice) will work to cause it to move it's foot off the rock, but i'm not sure how that works practically.
Been there many many years ago when my buddy was getting married. I remember the trip because it was the first (and only) time my little girl was badly constipated and we were young parents and a little bit freaked. Thankfully...it all crapped out. She is now much older and pretty much drinks...
surely someone who has cheato in their own tanks can give/sell some? I used to grow the stuff and constantly had to throw it out. I supplied everyone I could here. I've stopped using chaeto so unfortunately cannot do the same today.
Sorry I missed the monday "meeting". Would have been nice to see mike and nikki again but oh well. I'd be happy to help take a frag and also agree with mikem about temporarily keeping it until you have time to take it back.
The last time they had MACNA in Orlando there was a behind the scenes tour at Sea World. It was a fantastic tour and I got to meet revhtree and his wife from reef2reef. My only gripe is that it was super hot that day. I remember because we met the sea world employees outside and we were all...
I can't speak for the softner/detergent - however assuming you are using generic bleach (no special additives, not the color safe bleach) - it is going to be sodium hypochlorite (aka Liquid bleach). Exposed to oxygen, bleach will "unbind" and become totally safe. In other words, after you...
Sorry i missed it. I went to a doctor on thursday and was told if my condition didn't improve, that I'd need a chest X-ray and likely i'd have pneumonia. Thankfully i'm feeling much better after taking the antibiotics but apologies for not making the meeting!
i was going to guess a mantis shrimp but based on your tank inhabitants you must have had this tank for a while...and a mantis shrimp isn't something that escapes attention easily. What other inverts do you have?
Was this a bangghai? Pterapogon kauderni?
Pterapogon kauderni (Banggai Cardinalfish)
The life span per the link above is around 2.5 years. Might be longer for the tank bred specimens.
