My refractometer has ATC. I was just advised on reefcentral's chemistry forum that calibrating with the pinpoint solution is the best way to go. Because you are calibrating at the same point you want your water at. Makes sense to me.
Is it best to calibrate with distilled water as the instructions state or to use something like pinpoint calibration fluid? With the distilled water you are calibrating at 0ppt. With the pinpoint solution you are calibrating at 35ppt, wich is the same number I want in my tank. I was just curious...

What do you use with the gfo to remove silicates? I tested my topoff water last night and was not happy with the phosphate reading. I didn't test for silicates but I'm sure they are there.
Is there a simple way to have my rodi unit come on and run automatically for like 3 hours every few days? I don't want to leave it on constantly because everytime the water drops an eighth of an inch in my topoff conainer it runs for like 10 seconds, I know that's not good.I've been running it...

I see this is a common problem, low ph that is. I've read all the threads and articles I could find but, I still have a ph of 7.8. It has actually been dropping to 7.65 at night. I recalibrated my reefkeeper and double checked it and it is correct.
