Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I have been upgrading my system piece by piece and now I'm considering a high end skimmer. If money didn't matter what would everyone choose?
Yes, money does matter but, I'm already dead if she ever finds out the real costs and a little more won't hurt, right?
Not really, I have a DSB in my refugium. I just like the look better. And I want to go with a coarser sand to minimize sand storms when I add the Tunze powerheads.
I have about 1.5" of sand in my tank for the last 4 monts. I would like to add another 1.5 to 2". Can I do it all at once or do I have to do it a little at a time?
Harry,
I have the G4X on my 180 and it is a very good skimmer. Definitely do the gate valve mod. Mine worked fine as it was but, I can never leave well enough alone. I did the recirc mod as well and it made a signifigant difference.
Rich,
If I put the Vortecson each end, one would be about 6 ft from my spot on the couch. Is noise an issue?
And I would have to say that a modded ASM is the best skimmer...LOL.
I am planning a little upgrade to my power heads. I can't decide between the Tunze 6101 kit (2 powerheads and multicontroller) or the Vortec kit (2 powerheads, 2 drivers, controller and 1 battery back up). They are both about the same price, just not sure which is better. Any opinions?
No, unfortunately I had a flatworm problem and 4 of the 5 antias didn't survive the treatment. I noticed a few flatworms again yesterday, I'll be getting a yellow coris wrasse to try to keep them under control. I don't think I'll be using flatworm exit again.
I put a gramma in my tank about 2 months ago, he hid for the first 2 or 3 days (except for feeding time), Now he's always out in the open, stays in one general area though.
I don't know what kind of zoo's they are. I bought some of my live rock from Danny in Piscataway and it had all kinds of zoos, shrooms, and monti's and a horn coral on it.
It is a Sebae (heractis crispa) about 12" - 14" across.
