hey guys, i was thinking on increasing my sumps actual bio power load, tanks been running for like 9 months now and still having bioload issues unfortunately i dont want to spend a fortune on this,
i was thinking of buying a 2-5lb bag of live sand adding it to the sump ( would this cause issues...
my tank was seeded with 5 year old live rock about 40 pounds plus my new dryrock which was about 60 lbs roughly so 40% live rock and i had dinos up the booty
well i did 10% water change with a thin syphon sucked them all out then i used
chemiclean ( red cyno ) then used dose up to 80 gallons roughly
then for the next 2 days i used a turkey baster blasting off all the dynos into the return with filter floss on it catch all of it
reduce my lighting...
unfortunately my bubble tips all died due to dinos after months of fighting...
i finally got the tank some what decent shape..
looking to buy a rainbow bubble anemone if anyone is selling
hey guys so im thinking on adding some macro algae plants into my reef tank to help stabilize nutrients and such
chaeto ball into my fuge with some red Gracilaria
then in my display i was thinking of taking some rock ruble and adding bunch of plants tied to the rocks
Pencil Cap Algae...
your sand is basically 50% of your bio filter imo
rock your never changing so that bio always can be moved around once you get rid of sand and re add new stand your literally reentering a new cycle which will turn ugly ask me how i know.. lol
i moved 2 tanks this year easy peasy went to home depot got 10x 5g buckets = 50g of water
put all my rock into 3 buckets with water to the rim used the matching lids to seal it in there
too all my fish and all the water into the rest of the buckets
slid my tank onto a piece of 1 inch ply wood...
i was also thinking since they are snails aka invertebrates if you remove all the corals and such off your rock couldnt you just dip them in copper for like 30 minutes?
let me look tonight what i have in material wise at home i can definitely make you one i got all the glues and stuff would be clear aswell i dont have any more tinted plexi
i could prob make something like for 80ish or frags trades or fish trades
was always hesitant on buying live rock specially off people god knows whats in that rock was talking to a fellow reefer from MHR guy bought a live rock from some website put it into his tank thing had a small mantis shrimp that wiped his fish in one night ...
