Mike, in the Winter my tank stays in the low-mid 70's, once summer comes it will gradually heat up, but at least gradually. From what I have heard as long as you increase feeding with the increased metabolism, they are fine with higher temps.

My pump has its own sediment filter and has been working perfectly for years in a different position. I think the point of this configuration is to avoid sediment entering the pump, which I can understand.
I ran it years ago. Stopped running it as it left little room for error with alkalinity. Barely above 7 would cause stn. There are better alternatives to nutrient reduction and it's very expensive.
