Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I usually lean towards a larger sump when considering how much water will drain back into it if your return pump goes off. I’d do some calculations to figure out how much water will drain out of your display into your sump factoring in how much water is already in it. My display is slightly...
If I ever get a bigger tank it will be the first fish in it. Is always up front and very aware of when I get near the tank. Love how they can flash their colors going from light to dark in a second. Its the boss of the tank but not really aggressive.
I’m going to take a ride to harbor freight tonight and check them out thanks. My new tank is only about 250 lbs. For the most part the tank can rolled on dollys or slid on carpet. The handles will just make it a little easier to lift and slide down my basement stairs.
Tanks is frameless so I’m not sure how well the straps would hold on just glass. Those industrial suction cups are what professional movers use to move big tanks. I could probably get away without them on this tank but it may make the job a little easier.
Does anyone in SJ happen to have suction cups for a tank move? I have a 150 coming that I need to get into my basement. Would have thought HD would have them for rent but I’m not seeing them on their website.
Thanks
I’m getting ready to downside from a 300 to a 150 and as much as I hate to do it I probably need to find a bigger home for my Desjardini sailfin tang. I’ve had him for around 5 years and he’s a very healthy and beautiful fish. He’s about 5 inches and hasn’t grown too much since I’ve had him...
I have a skimz lepord sl253 body with a versitex neck cleaner. The body is in great shape. Used it on my 315 for about 2 years before going to an external skimmer. It had a DC pump on it which died and would need to be replaced. BRS and Aquacave sell the pump for around 250. I'd let the...
A few days isn't something to be worried about and its not uncommon for it to take up to 2 or 3 weeks. It does get nerve racking though the longer it drags out since there are always those that never eat. How big is it? Showing any interest in food? Might try picking up some Mastic and...
I change my radiums out at around 12 months but could probably run them longer. I think those megachrome bulbs last a good bit longer. Just saw a thread about them the other day and they caught my interest.
No the phosphate will bind to it and precipitate out and it can end up sticking to the rock. I took a fine micro filter sock and hung it on the side of the container. I hooked up a powerhead to some tubing to run water through the sock. I then slowly dripped the lathium chloride into the...
I've used it on my tanks and etched it and cycled it in a vat beforehand. Phosphate increased but I just knocked it back with lanthium chloride and water changes. It was fine by the time I put it in my tank.
Curious if those that are testing calcium more frequently are dosing 2 part? I run a calcium reactor and find I don't need to test for calcium more than once a month. Even then it rarely varies by much. Its been in the 420 to 450 range for the past year.
I normally test alkalinity every two...
Youll find several salt brands that mix at 12 dkh or higher. 12 dkh has been thought to be within the acceptable range for an sps tank but as others have said higher alk levels are hought to give issues at lower nutrient levels. High alk can allow corals to form their skeletons faster but...
