Get some wire and shrink tubing and solder the connections. As long as the connections arent submerged it won't be a problem. I extended several this way and have them connected to my BOB.

The way I look at it is those socks are catching organics and the longer you leave them in there the more chance there is for it to find its way back into your water. I try to change then every three or four days whether they are clogged or not.

Good tips guys. When I want to clean my sand but am not doing s water change, I run the hose into a filter sock in my sump.
