Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
My ocellaris clown showed his damsel stripes when I introduced a borbonius anthias the other day. I've had him for a few years and was one of the first inhabitants of my original tank. He also survived my velvet outbreak last year and was treated with chloroquine phosphate for several weeks in...
Get some wire and shrink tubing and solder the connections. As long as the connections arent submerged it won't be a problem. I extended several this way and have them connected to my BOB.
I did as ITzJu suggested and just gradually ramped up the photo period over a few weeks. Nothing bleached and in fact I had an old strawberry shortcake frag that was in the frag boneyard start to color up and a Milli sprout up from a rock that at one point had a colony that rtn'd on me.
Went from leds on my 120 to t5s and then 3 250 watt radiums on my 300 and love the MH. Honestly I haven't noticed much if any increase in my electric bill going from my 120 with leds to my current setup with MH. My 800 watt of heaters don't run nearly enough. My tank is in the basement which...
I'm using a Litermeter system for automatic water changes and love it. I make up 70 gallons of saltwater about every two weeks and let it do its thing.
Hey Dave what model is it? Now that I've made the commitment to hallides I've been toying with the idea of getting one for the spring and fall when we aren't running our AC. I suspect that this is too small for my system but ill check.
Nope they are the kind you want. Take a look at the apex manual though. Switches come set to operate in different positions. In otherwords they can either be open in the high or low position. Some are reversable. You may be able to program your apex with either type but confirm that before...
I've done up to 5 days during my battles with dynos. Three days didn't really stress my sps but 5 days saw some negative effects. It did seem to knock back whatever cyano was in my tank at the time but it did come back. At one point I hit my tank with chemi clean and I havent seen cyano since...
That blue sided looks great. I may have to try one at some point. Gotta say I'm pretty happy with the quality of the fish. I was a little skeptical given the prices. I'm go to be game for a trip there once these fish are out of qt.
The way I look at it is those socks are catching organics and the longer you leave them in there the more chance there is for it to find its way back into your water. I try to change then every three or four days whether they are clogged or not.
