Interesting... I still haven't gotten around to skinning the stand from your old tank. Mainly because I couldn't decide on a style. The tank is set back into a nook like yours with about 2 feet on either side. My wife actually suggested that I enclose the whole area. I'll be interested to...
I've fought them on a few occasions and they are a real PITA. I wish I could say that there is a magic bullet for dealing with them but there really isn't . I'm not even sure that their cause is well understood. Peroxide and raising pH didn't do anything for my outbreaks. Peroxide did...
When I got hit my velvet outbreak I had to pull all my rock to get the remaining fish out so I just removed all of the sand at the same time. It made a mess of the tank. I'd just do it over a few water changes. If your rock is sitting on top of the sand, just watch out for it shifting.

I'm happy to report that the fish are back in the display after about 12 weeks of going fallow. What survived was a diamond tail flasher wrasse, line-spot flasher wrasse, orange back fairy wrasse, leopard wrasse, desjardini tang, ocelaris clown and a firefish.
I've already started the...
The tanks looks great and I'm glad moorish worked out for you. I can't say enough good things about those guys. Is the tank constructed with 3/4 inch glass? It had to weigh close to 1000 pounds. If you need help setting up you apex I'm not that far away.
I have my apex set to send me a text/email alarm if the pH in my reactor drops below a certain level indicating that the regulator got stuck open. If I wanted to get fancy I could always have it shut off the feed pump also.
Yep there is definitely some very active discussions regarding MH. I went with some cheap reflectors on my 300 to see how I liked them. After 6 months I'm making the commitment and and upgrading the reflectors.
I've had the reef fanatic regulator for about 2 years and so far I haven't had a single issue with it (knock on wood). I don't think that I've even touched it since I last changed my bottle. When it does finally go I may replace it with the aquarium plants regulator.
Don't spend the money...
My first vote would be for the regal and then the orange back. The regals are one of my favorite fish. Unfortunately I lost my during my velvet outbreak. It can be tricky to get a good one though. If you do decide to get one its worth it to spend a little more money and pick up one that has...
Sorry to hear this John. When I broke down my 120 I felt like it had finally started running nicely and my upgrade hasn't been easy. You had a great looking tank before and I'm sure with some persistence you'll get something even better.
Looks like a real nice build that you are putting together. One suggestion would be to reconsider the Scott's wrasses especially if you want to keep other fairy wrasses. They are reported to be very aggressive towards other fairy wrasses. Also with the flame wrasse pair, it might make more...
Even after I etched some pukani rock and then soaked it in fresh saltwater it was still leaching phosphate. I ended up doing several treatments with lanthium chloride and that took care of it. Its amazing what gets tied up in the rock. I added two small pieces to my display this summer...
I'm bare bottom now after a few years of having sand. I honestly never thought that I could give up the sand but after seeing a few bare bottom tanks especially Darren's I decided to give it a shot. The black bottom seems to draw the eye towards the rock work and coral similiar to how a black...
