Congrats on the tang! Kole tangs are one of my favorite fish and often overlooked.
In my experience the fish will do best when learning by watching from other fish that eat the algae. Do you have something like a foxface or lawnmower blenny that already eats the nori?

I use one small heater that got stuck on as a general heat source and supplement with a larger 200W that I replace yearly and is hooked up to my Reefkeeper.
