    Reef Octopus HOB-90

I upgraded to a reef octopus hob-90 and have had some problems with it. A few months ago the pump jammed because a snail snuck in; I disassembled and cleared it out, then it was working fine. A couple of weeks ago it overflowed badly, emptying the tank to the level of the intake overnight...

Haha I was waiting. It did eat the whole thing-I was surprised. And no sign that it spit any out. Pretty wild, glad I caught it in action.

    Question about coral QT

I've read that frag plugs are an area that aiptasia often can be attached to. Technique depends on the type of coral (though not doing damage is not my specialty lol)

    Question about coral QT

Great question. QT definitely is best practice but like most others I don’t. I dip and then rinse in tank , and lately I’ve taken to a short freshwater dip as well (only one minute). I prefer to remove from frag plugs if possible.

Favorite Corals for $50.00 or less

I like getting small frags and having them grow in over time. Not only keeps the cost down but leaves room for the reef to grow in. Toadstool has been awesome to watch grow from 2-3 inches to more than double that (and when it flattens out/opens up even more). Mine has standard tan color but...

Tanked cancelled - about freaking time

I don’t disagree with anything you said, they certainly did not save the hobby, what an outrageous statement. And you’re right-it’s a reality show, but the only one I’ve enjoyed because their creations for the most part were pretty cool. I enjoyed the show despite their flaws, which is an...

Tanked cancelled - about freaking time

I like the show. Really creative, fun tanks. Could do without the drama nonsense but they were having fun in the hobby. Brett's post is awful, but I guess it's frustrating to see people in the hobby reject what he's been working on for the past fifteen years. People need to lighten up--both...
