Soooo as I was saying in one of my earlier posts, when I was doing the work in the basement I framed out my wall and built the stand. Then I just sheetrocked over the opening until I was ready for the tank. Fast forward one year and this is what you end up with after 5 minutes with a utility...
Instead of an old barn beam under the granite I was thinking about using an old ships wheel I bounght from a salvage yard. maybe put the wheel in the middle and then 2 old corbels on each side. Anybody got some other ideas????
Hey thanks codfather but I beat you to your idea....When I built my bar I wanted to surround the whiskey barrels with something that made them look like they were being stored in a rack. So I bought some eight 1/4 stock and spent about 2 hours tossing it down my paved driveway, beating it with...
The brick is reclaimed brick from old factories in chicago that have been knocked down. The brick is then sliced thin, it is brick veneer, but I guess you would call it real vintage brick. The paint is Benjamin Moore's new Aura paint and since the basement will get alot of abuse i went with an...
My house has nothing to do with me being a self employed painter (TRUST ME) it has everything to do with my wife having a degree in genetic engineering, and being in the right place at the right time LOL! I will say this though, my wife and I don't feel our house is any better than anybody...
All the work that has been done around house was done by myself over the last 10 years. Fortunately all the boulders came off our property! I don't even want to think what it would have cost to have all the stone trucked in. As far as the tank cost.....I was able to knock off over a thousand...
Gave CTC deposit today and they said that the vendor should have the glass to them by next Thursday. If it goes down that way they will start assembly on Friday. I think the tank comes in at just over 150 gal.
Soooo after a long hard winter of finishing the basement its finaly time to get down to business.
This looks like a good place for something!!!!!!
What do think would go good with the rest of the finished basement
Perhaps this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you looked into AGE? They make a glass tank with an acqrlyic bottom. I hear its kind of pricey but hey I got quoted a price of over $4500 for a glass 96x20x20tall, and thats with me going to get the tank :o I won't tell you what company that absurd quote was from for fear of being put in...

Theres a recent thread over on RC about 3 pages long, do a search. The just of it was.....their tanks are cheap in price, built strong, but the silicone work is very sloppy. They also talked about Miracles, Coast to Coast and Lemar. Miracle's tanks are very well built and clean, and better...
I failed chemistry class....that means i don't know a thing about ph, alkalinty, or calcium ???
I am poor ....that means my wife pays the electric bills :D
I am poor that means the wife pays for the bi-weekly water changes :D
I am poor ....that means all my coral purchases go on my wifes credit...
Hey Youpey! Nice models man. Not sure if you know this or not but if you are ever in the area of Pine Brook NJ on Rt.46, there is a place called Tech Toys. They have perhaps the best selection of model accesories for the "hard core" modeler. I'm talkin about things like replica distributors...
