Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I think plain IO gives you the best bang for your buck. As long as you use a salt mix that doesn't contain any type of organics, i.e. Reef Crystal, Red Sea Pro, etc. you can keep it for long periods of time without any PH's/aeration. Make sure your using RO/DI water.
I would take a more holistic approach to dealing with this problem. There are a number of conditions that will cause this problem, individually/collectively, and although one may be the overriding factor, I’d approach each one as the primary, or contributing factor. Starting with using good...
I have Norton Security Suite that keeps my av updated, and manages my firewall(for now). Window's updates are done automatically. Both real time and cloud based protection are turned on. Can you explain local administrator and disable autorun? Although I have two external HD's, they are...
I have moved out of my house after selling it, and am currently living in a hotel for a few month's while the new house is under construction. The hotel has free WiFi on an open network. For security purposes, I installed a VPN on my system(TunnelBear) to help secure my information. Is there...
I also had a DSB, and didn't touch it. I would suggest you get a better resolution test kit, i.e. Salifert, and test your nutrients before you start to do any vacuuming. Once you have the new kits, test those param's to develop a base line, and then vacuum a small section of the tank, testing...
Well water can have high levels of CO2, which can burn through the DI resin very quickly. If so, I would use the city water. In either case I would get a decent RO/DI unit, and a booster pump if its in the budget.
Is this going to be in a cabinet beneath the tank? If so, you might want to make sure you have enough head room for the height of the skimmer, along with any platform you may have to place it on to meet its optimal operating depth.
The pump was the main reason I went with the SSA instead of the BM skimmer. The SSA is a BM skimmer, but with a better Sicce pump that is more readily available if the need arises...unlike the Atman.
