I just ordered my light for my sump frag tank. I’m going to go with alternate light schedule. The lights are a nano version of what I’m using in my display. Same led segments, and same mixing ratios. Just much smaller. I should be able to use the same settings. There is an 8” green serpent star...
I am looking at the reefbreeder aquanight nano led light. I don’t know why they call it aquanight. It’s a full spectrum led, not a night light. I already have reefbreeder photonV2 on my display. They grow SPS and clam at 50%. The clam is all the way on the bottom. The aquanight is rated for 12”...
I think it’s a great idea. I doubt there’s enough flow. Will need a power head. Alternate light schedule, to keep ph stable? All I have in my refuge now is a heater. Minus well put a frag rack down there.
Here’s how it playing out so far. The slimmer is growing out over the monti, creating a shadow. The monti has not advanced much more towards the slimmer. I suspect it might grow towards the better lighted areas.
Thanks for another option. The slimmer is encrusting pretty fast as well. It just hasn’t been in the tank as long. Also, my research indicates that the slimmer is a pretty aggressive coral. It actually does slime, as a defense. It certainly was sliming me, when I handled it. I suspect it might...
There’s no good way to trim the monti. It is encrusted on the rock. Sweeper tentacles shouldn’t be an issue with sps coral. There going to make contact within a few days. They are noticeably closer today than yesterday. If I observe one taking over the other, I will have to move the slimmer, and...
Would it be best to move the green slimme
Good answer. My main concern would be the monti encrusting over the green slimmer. At the current growth rate, I probably have a little more than a week before they make contact.
I have an encrusting monti that is quickly growing towards my green slimmer acro, and visa versa. Is it usually recommended to move corals around to accommodate growth, or just let the corals sort it out on there own.
Night photo of candy cane. A head is finally splitting. I had this for a year and a half. It stated as 5 head, and it didn’t do well for a long time. Its down to 2 heads, and a speck left of a 3rd. But now it’s splitting, and I will soon have a lot. I think I finally got my nutrients up enough...
I have a reef octo 110sss. It’s great. That being said, would rather have one with a controllable DC pump, for extra tuning and feed mode settings. The skimz is supposed to be a good skimmer, but I have no first hand experience.
I added this new coral recovery/ acclimation rack, the back corner. It’s a low flow, moderately low light area. There is a bit of shade there due to return tubing. The big lobo is healthy, but I just can’t find place for it. I might be looking to trade it b/c I have had it for years, and can’t...
I’m finally having some success with euphyllia. After several years of them sitting there, looking mediocre at best, and 0 growth. They have been looking much better lately. SPS grows like weeds in my tank. Softies grow very slowly. I’m still working on getting it a little dirtier, to strike a...
I don’t see any evidence of a worm tube anchored onto the frag plug. I haven’t seen the spaghetti tentacles since the lights came on. I’ll check in the am.
