Got 4 new sps today. A birds nest, a red monty, what I thought was a green slimmer, and some kind of Jason fox monti, that looks kind of bland in the picture, but I think it will color up nice given the right conditions. Unfortunately, I dont think I actually got a green slimmer. It doesn’t...
Since I am planing on a kalk stirrer, I am now also interested in monitoring PH, and since I’m getting some automation, I minus well integrate a temp controller as well. My first thought was an Apex JR, but it appears to have been discontinued. The regular apex, does more than I need, and is out...
I am shifting to SPS dominant tank. With this shift, it’s only a matter of time that water changes will not keep up with calcium and alk requirements. I have a 40 display, with about 50 gal total water. What is the best systems for supplementing calcium and alkalinity. Im thinking dosing pump or...
I have been dosing Live Phyto for my 3” clam for the past week. I had it for a month before that. It was doing fine without phyto, but i figure it should benefit from it.
I addaded a new blue chromis today. My original chromis disappeared without a trace a few months ago. I replenished cuc, with some new snails and hermits today. I also got my first acro. Just a basic green stick. I’ve been very well with monti’s, so If this does well, I’m planning to pack the...
I can see a definite increase in activity, particularly its exhale tube extending and retracting in a pulsating fashion. The feeding seems to be stimulating this. I have observed it repeatedly.
As far as feeding the clam, some say it is necessary, and some say it’s not. I don’t target feed it, but when I broadcast feed, with a frozen omnivore blend, this thing really seam to react, and move some water through itself. I personally think it benefits from feeding.
Are these bad guys? I have had them around the tank after dark, but I’m noticing them on my clam. They don’t seem to resemble the dreaded pyramid snail.
I through a yellow tang right in my tank, about the same time you got that. Never seen any of those symptoms either. I don’t have second tank, so I’ve been taking a calculated risk. No problems yet.
