I started my tank with the intention of lps dominant mixed reef. I do not have the best success with lps. I have 2 SPS, both monti’s, that are doing really well. I am considering going to sps dominant, due to my smaller size tank, (40 gal), and there less aggressive nature. I can pack it with a...
Give it 24 hours and test again. I have had that happen with mag test. One day I tested it and got similar readings. I re tested with the same result. I tested again next day it was fine. I don’t know why.
I might not be able to keep it forever in my tank. It has enough room to grow to about 10 to 12 inches in the spot it’s in. If I make it that far, hopefully I’ll have a bigger tank by then.
It occasionally reacts to that, but not most of the time. It reacts quickly to the cleaner shrimp, and when fish swim right over it. It reflexes seem to be good, but it not that reactive to shadows.
I have a bio pellet reactor, that should be discharging some bacteria, it can filter feed on. I also was purchased a larger than 2” (almos 3”) clam, which are supposed to be less dependent on filter feeding and more dependent on light.
I have to do it this now. Need do 10% water change, change carbon, and clean pumps. I don’t have to do a full blown vinegar soak in the pumps this time. Just a quicky.
I just picked this up at Petco. It’s probably just shy of 3”. It’s been in the tank for a couple hours. How does it look? I never had one, and I don’t really know what to expect.
You take meticulous care. You don’t see too many engine compartments that look that good. No bilge water stains or anything. I know it hurts not to do it yourself.
When I feed blackworms, which is almost daily, I can’t get any to my lps. My fish won’t let any coral have any. No matter how much I feed. I have had fish with bunches of them hanging out of there mouths, that they can’t even swallow, and somehow there still going after them. If the fish miss...
I see one in my tank every now and then. A little aptasiaX kills it. They don’t seem to multiply very fast, or be a problem. + 1 on adding peppermint shrimps.
I just started a new job. Graveyard shift. Been doing minimal maintenance to the tank. Its actually responded positively. It’s kind of strange, the sps and the softy’s are doing very well with growth and color. The LPS are still mostly kind of mediocre, with the exception of a chalice that I got...
Oh my goodness! I just noticed that the Ricordea has just moved deeper into the rock crevasse, and is still there! I hope my lights aren’t too much For it, and made it retreat deeper in the rock. It’s lower in the tank, and kind of under a ledge. Seams like an ideal spot for a low light, low...
The second Ricordea never attached to anything. It fell down on the sand I tried to put it in a low flow crevasse in the rock, but it’s gone. Pistol shrimp probably took it. I really liked it. I had concerns that was goin to happen. I will have to find one retail with a proper frag plug.
Excellent synopsis. Mine are just at the 3 year mark. (I had them 3 years. + however long they were in a grow out facility.) The Female is not quite 3”, but close. I suspect they have spawned and eaten them. The male has been tending to a particular spot in the tank lately. I have not witnessed...
