Ok. I was going to say, if all else fails, make a provision to reduce the efficiency of it. I was thinking about a way to restrict the flow through it.
You can anchor yarn or some other kind of material that can sway in various areas on the tank, and see where you get the most uniform flow. Or if you have existing coral, you can just see how they respond. Any rock structure, tank walls, and even opposing flow from a return nozzle can break up flow.
If it not controllable, it’s a little much for that size tank. I think I could be manageable if you set the flow angle to ricochet off of the tank wall, and don’t put anything in the direct flow. It is challenging to get the flow right on any tank, even with the most ideal powerheads.
I don’t have access to natural see water, or mud, but I use many of your practices. If I ever start another tank, I will probably go with a reverse undegravel filter. Can’t argue with your results. I do have a local store that sells live black worms though. If I’m ever in you’re area, I’ll take...
Mine tends to drop over time for whatever reason. I skim prety dry. I’m not sure where it goes. Usually when I check it, it’s slightly low. I just put a little saltwater in the top off reservoir and it slowly brings it back up. Fish seem to tolerate lower than normal salinity. The lower the...
I’m about 10 months in since starting this tank. I finally spotted a few specs of coralline algae on the overflow box. It took quit a bit longer than my last tank, not that I’m looking forward to having to scrape it off the glass. This tank seems to be slow to mature. I have fought new tank...
I finally got coral growth. The alien eye challis that I got at the march meeting had 5 eyes when i put it in my tank. It now has a bunch more. It has further encrusted the frag plug. The green monti appears to have a new growth ring around it’s edge. This is the first success I have had with...
Yea I’m hoping I don’t have to. I had a situation on my last tank that one kind of Zoa took over another. If that starts to happen i wanted a plan to save a few.
Yea. I’m going to let them go for a while. I would rather have them growing together. I was just looking for a plan b, in case the purples start to loose the battle. Thanks guys.
Mmm good point. If it comes down to it, I’ll use pneumatic cut off wheel. No electricity, so I can dripp some saltwater. I was thinking I would have to remove the Zoas from the disc, but cutting the disc seems preferable.
Good day all. I scored this zoo combo @ the last months meeting. It seems the yellow ones might be growing a little more aggressively than the purple ones. If this trend continues, I am thinking about attempting to fag a few purples for another location, where they don’t have to complete. Is...
