plastic mesh for Lid on biocube

I have some mesh leftover from my build. Give me a day or 2 to dig it out, and you can have a piece, if it’s convenient for you to pick it up. It’s 1/4” clear mesh.

    Anyone mix salts?

Yea. I sometimes use Red Sea blue and bucket and sometimes coral pro. If my elements are a little in the low side, I do the next few water changes with coral pro, due to the elevated element. Saves me having to dose for the time being. I used to use coral pro all the time, but the alk was a...

    Cure dry Fiji rock

    Cure dry Fiji rock

Most of that rock has been mined from land where ancient ocean used to be. They Are as clean as any terestrial rock. It hasn't been in the ocean in thousands of years. you don’t have to worry about it. If you just cycle the tank it won’t leach nutrients. Curing is relevant for rock that’s been...

I don’t have a better pic at the moment. I’ll try to get a better one soon. It’s a chalice for sure though. Thanks to all who replied.

    Coral ID

Can anyone ID this lps coral frag? I forgot what it is. Sorry I’m not the best photographer, a general classification is good enough. I know it’s lps, but my google searches haven’t turned up anything close enough for me to be sure.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

My steam cleaner rusted through the boiler recently. I Salvaged it from trash. It was probably made in the 70s, maybe 80s. It was definitely made in USA. It had a penguin with an X on it. NO Penguins, I guess. It was made for kerosene. I used jetA in it cause it’s readily available. The last...

    Dynoflagellates

The alk always stays up around 9.7 or so. It never really consumes any. Water changes should be keeping up with my elements, seeing as I’m really not growing stuff well yet. I check my mag every once in a while, and it’s always exactly what the salt mixes too.

    Dynoflagellates

My calcium keeps dropping to 360. I bring it back up to 410 over the course of a few days, and it goes to 360 again in 4-5 days. My alkalinity never depletes though. I am under the impression that calcium and alk, should be consumed/dosed at similar rates. I am going to stop dosing calcium for a...

    Watchman gobies

Thanks. I think it would be safer to add them at the same time, but I don’t know if it would work out. The ones you have are established in the tank. Mine is a tiger pistol. It just wasn’t out when I took the picture.

    Dynoflagellates

Yea. The important thing is it made it through alive. I have lost some mass on some of my coral, but I have managed not to kill any. Now it’s time to figure out how to get them to grow.

    Dynoflagellates

    March 2019 Monthly Meeting

The zoa combo I scored there is amazing! I didn’t have any Zoas in my tank prior.

    Watchman gobies

I added 2 juvenile yellow watchman gobies several months ago. Both gobies were bright yellow, and about 3/4” when I got them. One of the gobies have dulled off quite a bit, and has been getting blackish strips, and seems to be developing a black mustache. It’s just pigment, not actuall facial...

    March 2019 Monthly Meeting

Thank you sandry75, for for hosting the meeting. Your tank was amazing, and I love fried chicken. The frags I won, provided Philadelphia are top quality as well. They opened right up after dipping and acclimating.

    Toadstool coral not opening

The Toady is now doing well, with more polyps every day. Can a toadstool live right on the sand with a little rubble? Or should I try to find a low ledge for it. Here is a pic of its current placement . I don’t generally see people keeping these on the sand, but I thought I’d seek some opinions.
