I know you asked about pellets but this is why I use red sea nopox with a doser. It allows me to exactly tune my phos and nitrate levels with carbon dosing. Maybe give it a look.

The best "pop" led is 445-460. 420 adds next to zero pop and 480 is almost out of that range.

Also make sure you are thermal compound and that the one you pick is not very conductive. If you didn't use compound your leds will burn out very quickly and if the compound is high conductive like some are that could make the shorting issue above worse.

Will trade for smaller skimmer

I have a 40 gallon breeder (not drilled) and a standard black pine aqueon stand. Would be good for a QT tank. Tank has some scratches but overall in good shape, the stand may need some touch up.

That won't help with a high corner etc that would twist the tank. Just place it up top and see what it does. Then you can use a planner to fix small issues.

I have owned several brands and the only one that have never failed are the eheim jagers. Have 2 that are almost ten years old.

Also some skimmers are crazy sensitive to water depth changes. Does the water level in your skimmer chamber change at all?
