Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The anthias are your determining factor. Anthias ideally should be fed 3 or more smaller feedings per day to maintain them in good health.
You could try running gfo through a fluidized media reactor to keep your phosphates down. You could also use something like biopellets or another carbon...
I'm ready for round 2! Last year was awesome. Was like #20 in line on Saturday. Picked up some great deals and saw some incredible pieces that were far outside of my price range

Sorry to see that. Always a bummer to have a DOA, especially when it's the reason for the order.
I will say that that size is pretty normal for the biota mandarins from what I've seen.

I test my alk every day with my hanna checker.
Every 3 days I check nitrate, calcium, and mag. (Red sea pro, Hanna, and red sea pro respectively)
Weekly I check my phosphates with my hanna ulr checker.
Ph and temp is constantly monitored through the apex and I have an American marine...
I think you'll be happy with it. I've been using reef octo skimmers for almost a decade now and have had very few complaints. I actually still have my first one I bought back in 2009 and it still runs like a champ. Not quite as efficient as the new dc ones, but a workhorse none the less...

Added one to my very first tank back in the day. It unintentionally ended up being a species tank because he did not play nicely with others. I got rid of him in that next upgrade. He took down wrasses, gobies, blennies, and even a dwarf angel of all things until I realized he just wasn't going...
Odontanthias fuscipinnis, pretty much the rarest of rare anthias. I had literally never seen one in person since they're several thousand a piece and these were 6 going into the same persons aquarium. They were in quarantine with the like 25 Banded angels (which that number of bandeds was...

How much snow have y'all got down there?

I had a big female black ocellaris in my old tank that would repeatadly bite the fool out of my hand anytime it was in the tank. She knew where to bite to make it hurt, too.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I pulled the laminate up from the tank corner of the man cave and moved the 29 today to it's temporary home. It looks sad and lonely away from the wall and in the middle of the room. I also moved the book shelves away from the wall that will host the tank...
Yeah, that will be great! It'll be a few months until things get to fraggin size, though. I ran 400w 10k halides on the old 90 and was clipping stuff weekly. Trying to decide if I'm going a similar route with lighting or if I want to go all Led.
I've been running LEDs on the 29 and getting...
Hi everyone,
I just joined the forum a little while ago, and thought I would introduce myself and set up for my big build.
I'm originally from North Carolina and relocated to New Jersey about 6 years ago to be with my now wife. We did some hopping around north jersey in apartments before we...
