That sounds like a great idea, the “buy in” can just be added to the frag cost and then the total can be given back as a gift card.
Much easier.

I sent UC an email earlier asking if they were interested. I agree with Zoas, they’re the easiest to judge and grow the fastest too.
That being said, I have been looking for a piece of green slimer for a while now :)
As for the cost, I think if we can work out a deal with the person supplying...
I’m not so sure about SPS. I feel like going with a soft coral or maybe a faster growing LPS would be better, for more people would be able to keep them in their systems.
Maybe we can do an easy to keep monti or something? Those arr pretty easy to tell size differences as well.

Great idea! I was going to offer a frag of my Zoas but I wouldn’t be able to make more than 4-5 of them. I’ll work on drafting up an email to send to a few LFS.

I’ve been seeing some other local groups doing this activity where one coral is fragged and equal sized pieces are given to each member to see who can grow them the fastest.
I think we could maybe do something like this? Everyone participating could put in like $5 and winner after 3-6 months...
Just read through your entire build, cool stuff. You really need to start getting some big fish in there though, I want to see some tangs!
I love the in wall look as well.

Thanks! I’m just holding stuff for your tank when you get it back up at this point haha.
The QT process is going to kill me, I’m impatient by nature but it’s definitely worth it at this point to quarantine.

BTW, Can anyone tell what those 2 fish are?!?
I also found my old thread from my previous build and oh boy have I improved...
This was in the ugly stages of that tank and it did end up Turining out pretty well but still...
I use 1/2 teaspoon of BRS kalk in my ATO to account for CA and ALK losse currently. Need to increase soon though. :)

Updates!
As most of you know, there was a group buy at reefcleaners last week and I managed to pick up a bunch of new CUC members including hermits, ceriths, and some nassarius snails. I also purchased a portion of caulerpa and some pods to start increasing my population for a mandarin...
Haha he is definitely headstrong. I'm really enjoying having him though, adds a whole other level to the diversity within my system and is quite fun to watch. He's not bothering me for once right now as he's buried himself to presumably grow more shell.
Updates to come tomorrow regarding the...
I lost power from about 5:30 until 7:00 but it's been steady since then. So sorry to hear yours has been out.
I had to leave practice early after getting a call from my mom telling me the power had "fried" my reefkeeper. (It was thankfully alright)
I do have a generator and a friendly...
How is everyone (and everyone's tanks) doing with this noreaster we're having today? I lost power from about 5:30-7 and have been running around trying to keep everything happy.
Is anyone else having issues related to the storm tonight?
Fish for me serve two purposes:
1) as workers in the tank, all my fish (except the clown) have a job to to. They eat algae, sift sand, or eat pests.
2) as decoration, I personally prefer coral to fish but if anyone but me is looking at the tank, they want to see fish.
This way the fish are...
