I dont use filer socks anymore but when I used it before, I use to stuff it with polyester fiberfill. This fiberfill collects all gunk. I simply replace this fiberfill periodically.
I have a closed loop system. Plus a Koralia 3+Koralia 4+Koralia 5. It is a 180g tank. I am going to give siphoning a shot. Never done that before. Let me see how it helps.
I have a cuc also in there somewhere. I think one may not be enough for this size tank.
Hi Paul, mine went through major changes also. A month ago, my basement sump started leaking. So I had to replace it. For one week the tank survived without skimmer, carbon, phosban etc. Salinity was high and low and in between during the change. Also the temperature dropped because of a faulty...
Can someone help me identify this algae?
I have got this for a month and half. Sometimes it looks like it is going away and some other times it gets worse.
When I opened the magnet/impeller and all, everything looks ok to me. I dont see any visible wear & tear. It is about three year since I bought this. I guess it is about time to replace the impeller anyway.
The pump is running and pushing water through the gate valve. However it is not powerful enough to push the water above a certain level within the skimmer.
Sedra pump on my ASM G3 is giving me trouble. It is running but not with the usual power. I removed and cleaned it a bit and put it back. Still no good. Any ideas how to fix it?
The taller baffle is 14" and the lowest is 12" tall. I am thinking of putting a 3-4" platform to raise the skimmer a bit for its optimal performance. I agree with you that re-skimming is not a good idea. I have to rethink that option.
The skimmer goes in the sump. I would like to forgo the additional baffles in the sump. There are three sources of mircobubbles in my setup. The first is the intake coming from the display tank. This is not an issue since this is located before the existing baffles. The other two are skimmer and...
Hey Sam, how are you. Nice to see you back here.
The pump is screwed to two layers of 2X4s. However I just realized that even though the pump is screwed to a 2X4, the 2X4s are not attached to anything. May be it is a good idea to nail the 2X4s to the floor?
It is to the right side of the sump. In the picture below you can see that bottom wood (next to the canister filter) is wet. When the leak is worse then the floor is completely wet for nearly six to seven inches from the stand. But when the leak is not so bad then it is only about an inch or two...
Yet another setback in my saga of reefkeeping. My sump is leaking for no apparent reason. I have to rip apart all my equipments including the fuge to replace the sump and then put them back. I am planning to do during the Christmas weekend. I hope the leak holds up until then without getting...
My 70+ gallon acrylic sump is leaking. :(. It has been leaking for the last two weeks or so.
This is a diy sump and I have been using this sump for over 2 years without no problems. Why would it leak suddenly? the only change I made recently is to replace the pump but the sump itself was left...
Some updates....
So my return pump broke one fine day. Ever since I upgraded to a 180g, I wanted to do some upgrades to my plumbing work which is nearly three years old. This may be a good time to do that I thought. However there was one problem. I was scheduled to undergo a surgery in three...
