Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
+1 on the urchin. Tuxedo. But it will pick up and move things and may bulldoze whatever’s not secured.
And a tailspot Blenny is great for algae and personality.
Don’t know. I have a single Bartlett’s that I feed the same as you do your chromis. I also have a fuge with plentiful pods.
The owner of the shop said he had Bartlett’s in his main display for a while and only fed once daily, and they did fine. When I bought mine I also ordered the auto...
Yellowstripe cardinals in a shoal are nice and are more active than banggai, but not as bright a color as other fish. Mouth brooding and they do breed in captivity. Very peaceful.
I’m pretty sure chromis need multiple feedings a day too. A pod source and/or auto feeder ($20 on Amazon plus...
Definitely anthias. I got a Bartlett’s at aquatic obsessions that’s doing great -it’s not a bad drive from you and is a great shop. They have a great selection of well cared for fish there. They usually have anthias.
Thanks for the offers guys! lol funny how we all end up with extra tanks around. I picked up the two 10-gallons from a member a couple of weeks ago for potentially a QT or hospital tank (free-the only requirement was to get one I had to take both lol)
I haven’t formulated the project yet but...
I’m considering entering my kids into the iplay America science fair, and want to check here if anyone has fun, creative, cheap ideas for a cool project. I’m open to making a group if a few of us want to have our kids work together on it. The fair is open for grades 3-12; my oldest is in 4th...
Someone agreed that the winner would get a banner by their username-nobody from the BOD was involved in that?
This is a sticky area. On one hand the contest will be great for the club, not only the participants, and hopefully spur more group activities that will ultimately strengthen what the...
If you don’t have an ATO, maybe you can cover the tank with a temporary hood to minimize water loss/keep stable salinity. I have a glass hood and lose very little water, and what I lose is probably because my fuge isn’t covered.
Of course $12 is negligible and I’ll gladly pay it considering all I’ve learned reading the boards, the advice, and of course the equipment/coral that have been given or sold to me and the opportunity to pay that forward.
Bottom line is this is a pretty cool community and it will give back...
I agree about lfs discounts. Also discounts to aquariums can probably be arranged.
What would the money be used for? If it’s to support meetings or buy items for raffles at meetings, great, but a there has to be transparency in how the money is used and why the money is needed. Not that...
That’s great. You’re right about the logistics being tough. It’s a very different challenge to have a state-wide group like this as opposed to a regional group on the jersey shore. Ive wanted to go to the past few meetings but they’ve been over an hour away.
Didn't several members attend last month's meeting about saltwater, and if I understood the postings correctly, contribute to the presentation? Were there SW offerings at the auction? Looking on the JSAS website, I'd expect it was mostly FW and plants. Would be great to get some exposure to...
