Just out of curiosity, why are you using the drain line to regulate tank flow? Shouldn't you be restricting the return flow? Personally, I would never to anything to restrict the drain. Flow rates change over time and that just sounds like it could lead to an overflow in your display.

One other addition I use. This helps the epoxy set very quickly. Also, if you're just using the gel to glue frags to plugs/disks, they sell an accelerator that harders the glue VERY quickly. Squeeze some gel onto the plug, have the frag piece ready, spray the accelerator on the glue, and place...
