Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I made a few changes to the tank today. Since I added the bio pellet reactor a few months ago, my nitrates have come down, but my phosphates, started climbing. I tried aluminum oxide based media, which I had success with in the past, but it was not helping. So I took the carbon out of the brs...
I think is coming around. I think I’ll leave it on the bottom, and see how it does for a while. The pistol shrimp, doesn’t dig in that area, so I don’t think anything will bother it there. It has been there a few days, and nothing has.
It is a beauty when open. It is a super nice green. I remember how impressive it was in the store when I bought it. It was looking even better in my tank for a while.
The toadstool is shedding again, but this time I can see a few specs of polyp color. That’s a good sign. It has been in a never ending cycle of shedding, scabbing over, and shedding again.
Yea. I can’t see those celebrities paying a whole lot of attention to tank, besides just casually viewing them. Even if a maintenance guycomes a few days a week, there only so much they can do. The way they do it, defies what I have learned about real world saltwater fish keeping. I have...
Great. You’ll love it. I used an old $15.00 pump made for an outdoor bird feeder fountain for over 2 years on my first nano tank. It still worked fine when I took it down to upgrade. It was used for a while in the actual bird feeding prior as well.
Last effort, I’ll try it on the bottom, low light area. It’s definitely loosing some mass now. I have low nitrates of 1 ppm, that I’m trying to bring up a little. I just removed some more pellets from my bio pellet reactor. The rest of my parameters are pretty good. This coral used to do fine in...
I have. 40, with a 20 l sump. Total system volume after rock, about 50. I wouldn’t agonize over it as long as your in the ballpark. The power heads will create the majority of the flow in the dt. Your turnover rate can vary greatly. With a slower turnover rate, the water has more exposure time...
Since there mostly fish only, and fake corala/no inverts. I guess they can medicate the tanks. The enormously wealthy clients, can probably pay someone to come in on a daily basis to deal with all the problems/ replace dead fish. Its certainly not the right way to do it.
I have a Jebo a 4000 return pump. It is set on 3 out of 10, so there’s plenty of power in reserve. I have not noticed any degradation so far, but if it ever starts to fail I would buy a new one in a second. In fact, I’d probably downgrade to a 3000, which would be sufficient. I think when I get...
The green star polyp has about 20% of the back wall covered. I’ll just let it cover the whole back eventually. This was my first coral, and still one of my favorites.
I just figured make it simple, and have the leds ramp up to a certain point, and just have the t5 on for the peak 4 hour mid day period. The lamps should last a long time with that short daily usage. The additional lighting should the photosynthetic animals a good boost. I intend to do this...
I will call PayPal on Monday and see if I can straighten out the issue, so I can participate in the buy. The ricordias I currently have, are doing very well, so I have a good chance of success with these as well. The problem is I set up a paypal account about 15 or so years ago. It won’t let...
How often do we do group buys, and how come I never heard of them. I’ve been a club member for years? Is there any special place these group buys are posted? That mushroom is amazing. I would have probably wanted to get in on that buy.
