Not that I can see. My clowns hang around it. But they don’t host in it. There was a baby snail on it one night, but I never saw it on it again. I assume it was just passing through. It doesn’t seem to live there , or lay eggs there.
Thanks. This toadstool has not opened in 5 or 6 weeks. I run carbon in a reactor. I have it in the same spot with the same flow, for a while. It use to be happy there. I just moved it to another moderate flow spot.
Doesn’t sound too far fetched. If you have forced hot air heat, that is pretty dry air, and it can increase evap. Might not be As bad, when the humidity is higher.
The same as the picture I sent on the 2nd, when I started this thread. I’m not home to take a current picture, but I sent one then, and not much has changed.
The toadstool still isn’t opening. I have gotten my po4 down to .05 now. Unfortunately my No3 has dipped below 3 ppm. I have removed about 20% of the BioPellets from the reactor to try to edge them back up. The rest of my coral, soft, lps, and the single sps (monti) look decent. The toadstool is...
The bought bacteria speeds up the process. The same bacteria happens naturally, for free. It’s optional. Bad batches of bottled bacteria are common due to handling and storage. Freezing or excessive heat makes it unviable. Get it from place that sells it in large volume, so it doesn’t sit on a...
No moving parts. There is a Venturi, that draws in additional water volume. vanes inside upset the flow & create a turbulent effect. Someone makes one that is mechanical as well. The water flow causes the nozzle to rotate. I can’t see it working any better than this though, and I’m sure it would...
That’s the nozzle I’m using. It was pretty violent before I vented off excess flow. Between my 2 pulsing power heads and the return system, I have light to moderate flow in all areas, which I always struggled to accomplish. Coral are already responsible well.
I had a single return, and even with the return pump on a low setting, the flow was very direct and too powerful. I experimented with a few nozzles and no nozzle, but was unable to get it right. Then I tried a dual nozzle, and it was too week. Wasn’t getting enough surface agitation. So I...
The rest of my coral are looking better over the last couple days. I have my salinity, alkalinity, calcium in check. All my parameters are hovering around the ideal levels, except phosphates, which are a tad high, but not out of control. A leather, shouldn’t care about slightly high Po4. My...
Task completed. Thx for the tip. Looking forward to the meeting. Hope the turnout increases. If anyone wants to carpool with me form bergen county/ Hackensack area, let me know. I have empty seats in my car.
No. It’s not extending any polyps. It’s gotten a little smaller. It’s not showing any signs of improvement. I’ve had it do this for a few days, to a week and bounce right back, but it’s been too long.
Does anyone who will be at the meeting happen to have a pair of loc line pliers? I have some pieces I need to assemble. I can bring the pieces and do it on site if available.
That depends. Are you going to have a bare bottom, normal sand bed, or deep sand bed in your display. If you don’t have sand in display, you might want some in the sump. Of course there are plenty of successful tanks with no sand at all. Are you planing to light your refugium, and grow algae in...
