Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
From recent reading it looks like a mix of vinegar and vodka works better, two sources leads to multiple bacteria types. The mix recommended is around 2 parts vinegar to 1 part vodka
If your ph is over 7.8 there is no reason to chase higher. I have oversized skimmers too much in the past and they actually can't skim, not enough waste to make it up the neck.
But if he doses nitrates he most likely will be able to remove the gfo. And sorry that I derailed your post, but I think you have the correct size skimmer for your tank
Look up the Redfield ratio. If Your nitrates are zero carbon dosing cannot lower phosphate. I personally think if you go bigger the performance of the skimmer Will go down. If you go to big did don't have enough waste for the skimmer to be stable.
Buy a hanna 736 will be one of the best things you ever buy for your tank. The api is not actuate enough for reef tanks. If it is leaning towards .25 your phos is way to high. Do you have a Gfo reactor ?
If your tds is always zero out I would look elsewhere for the algae issues. And my advice in my first post is sound no matter what your incoming water is like. Do you test your phosphates?
