Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Asking purely for my own knowledge and hopefully to help others (not trying to be a smart-ass). If you use live rock from an established tank and live sand (pre-bagged stuff) couldn't you have a very quick cycle (I guess I get the point that it wouldn't be an instant cycle and there would be...
@Kstar86 have you been checking for ammonia? Having patience is the biggest thing in this hobby and it seems you are doing a great job there. As you used live rock and live sand, you very well may have insta-cycled the tank. That being said, no harm can come from taking it slow
Fish food and feeding was the leading topic for tomorrow’s meeting as well. Maybe something a few of us who are closer to each other can do together as it seems you get a ton of food this way as well
Welcome! I like your aquascaping! Is that the RS-100 sump? If so, I have the same one and it holds a good 10 gallons with my skimmer on. As others have mentioned, the sump is great for hiding equipment. If the heater fits down there, you can move it to get it out if the display tank. This is an...
Hey Everyone!
Kinda late to the party here. I'm lucky where my wife and I can both work remotely. Work is really busy, but I can't complain as I know many have it much worse than me. It is interesting working from home full time with two young kids (3 and 6). They are going crazy, but we...
Thanks everyone for the feedback. Can I change my vote? lol. Feeding would be a great topic.
Update: I did vote for feeding. I guess I was thinking ahead ;)
I’ve been doing a lot of research on fish food and it seems even the good brand frozen mysis and brine shrimp cubes aren’t that nutritious. Saw BSR and other videos on making homemade fish food. Also saw that Rods Food can be a good alternative. What do you guys and gals do in terms of ensuring...
I have noticed a little more evaporation since I made the change. Nothing drastic though in a 75 gal. I don't have an ATO yet, but that is the end game and then you don't need to worry about it at all. For me, I would usually top the sump off in the morning and at night. I've been noticing...
WOW! Yeah, it has already grown a lot since I got it. But don’t they drop a branch it it kinda free swims until it attaches elsewhere? I’m worried about it taking over but don’t want to get rid of it either...
I actually just saw that. Looking at YouTube videos on them now. Do you need a controller to ramp up and down the intensity (dawn/dusk) or can that be done through the lighting system itself?
No worries. I can see if my LFS has one they rent out. Phosphates are a little high (.45 but have phos-guard running now). All other parameters were just checked and came back good.
So I really screwed up with the lighting.... Knowing how picky and analytical I get over things (and that it puts me way over budget), my wife and I agreed to give a LFS a set budget(ish) and have him work on getting the gear we needed for our tank. I have to say I'm quite happy with...
