Latest update:
- ordered the Kerick Heavy Duty PVC Float Valve, .187 Low Flow Orifice, Stainless Steel Hardware, bulkhead Tank Connection., waiting for it to arrived.
- decided place the Kati-Ani outside of the 55g barrel - just in case, if it leaks, the media will then find it way into the...
or, may be, for people that already have water softener, may be the Cati unit is not required?
only need the "water-main" to "softener" to "Ani" unit?
thx
Bruce,
thanks for catching that...
yes, i am aware of that (only since yesterday) - about the 3/8-ID, 1/2-OD...etc.
i was in Lowes few days back for more than 2 hours trying to figure out what the heck they are, that sometime a 1/2 marking did not fit to a 1/2 fitting...
:-[
sorry to not...
I finally got the Cati-Ani-5 unit on hand (i think it can produce 5,000-gals for each recharge) - sitting in my basement right now, waiting for the pumping parts!!! however, at least for now, i can use it MANUALLY to open/shut-off valves to make DI water!
:D
after more research, this will be...
Bruce,
please help to check with the manufacturer, just in case...
thx
Rich,
due to busy at work today, i did not have a chance to check on anything yet, may be this weekend.
thx
that is what i have in mind:
- one thread for step by step in DYI
- another summary thread for standard setup of Cati-Ani (case 1) with the diagrams
are you guys saying, put them all in one thread? i am afraid it became a long thread like this one and no one want to read them (due to many good...
Bruce,
thanks for the explaination.
i do have one more question, due to physical space constrain with my setup, can i place the Cati-Ani INSIDE the 55g barrel? it also simplify the pipe that go out and go back in...etc. ofcourse, the Cati-Ani will have to be raised above the water line...
try some SLOW moving schooling fish...
the green-comic are too active, everytime i feed the tank, they would be the first to rob the food clean in no time, and other fishes have no way to compete with them.
i have 12 of them when i started, later on i keep giving them out - now only 4 left.
got the flow rate chart:
[edit]
the Cati-Ani can produce 16g per Hour, that would be 0.26g per mintue...
the 3.8" on the chart (blue) would be more than enough...
ok, i will order this tomorrow... second one on the list. $20 (no ball, no rod)
3/8" Kerick Heavy Duty PVC Float Valve, .187 Low...
Tom,
I can't find the NJ location link in either website? (MCMaster nor TheValveShop)?
Also, they did not say low flow, is how low...
thx
Bruce,
do you think this low flow would be ok for the Cati-Ani? I remembered you said something about 350g per day flow rate something...?
my main water line is 3/8", also the Cati-Ani.
i was looking at the 3/8 model, cause the Cati-Ani use that size... it is ~$140.
I guess i could order the 3/4" then get an adapter to convert the size?
if yes, I am going to order this:
5741K26 - PVC Float Valve Tank-Wall Mount, 3/4" NPT Male...

Hey, Bruce,
may be you should buy a whole bunch, and sell it along with the unit, i would think everyone would need it if they get the Cati-Ani from you.
;-)
yes, stcreef saved the day!! by the way, what is your name??
thx
stcreef,
understood, i will see what i can do... (with the solenoid or overflow to drain...)
just want to be sure, so the whole thing is not stainless parts?
thanks for all the great advise.
;-)
do you know what is the different for these TWO?
i need it to mount on the 55g barrel.
