I am fairly sure it would destroy any water based animal. I doubt it would do anything to crabs and snails which don't tend to fall apart as easily.
I can touch the probe to a hermit crab and he does not even seem to notice anything
A friend of mine owns a large LFS and his reefs are loaded with mojanos so I made the mistake of telling him that I built this mojano zapper. He had to try it so I brought it there today and he loves the thing. He destroyed about 75 mojanos in about 15 minutes. And in his tank they are huge...
I have a couple of old hermits that are spawning. I don't remember when I got them but it is at least 12 years or longer ago.
The male in the foreground has her pushed up against that bubble coral. He is pushing her so hard that he is lifting her [I]and[I] the 8" bubble coral. I am surprised...
A friend of mine owns a LFS near my home and his tanks are loaded with mojanos. Very large ones, so I am going to try to go there today and test the device on larger mojanos. I may need to bring a larger transformer to generate more power for these suckers
but it will be a good test.
It would not generate any heat underwater using 300 miliamps. I believe it is the gas that is killing them.
In Nam we used grenades to kill the animals before we swam
Actually, it does. I have found that in a day or two you may find a tentacle still waving so I zap it again. It's hard to tell when you are using it because the mojano turns into a styrofoam looking thing. The white stuff falls off and then if you see some movement, you do it again.
It's real...
All fish tanks were made like that in the early 60s.
I had a bunch of them and they were not too cheap. The stainless steel ones are the new ones, before that the corners were black painted iron. My first salt tanks were that type and I had to paint the steel all the time but it did not help...
Just like in the picture. The black thing is a piece of graphite from a large pencil and the needle is a needle. Connect one to positive and one to negative on a 24 VDC power supply and if the graphite bubbles, reverse the polarity. It's simple
Well the thing seems to be perfected. I replaced the carbon because it had copper in it so I used graphite from a carpenters pencil for the terminal that corrodes quickly. The chlorine emmitting electrode is still stainless steel but it is thinner now. The entire thing is small and compact with...
The electrode is emitting chlorine, big time. I found a cheap way to make Clorox.
I tried it for a minute in a small volume of water and smelled it, it almost burned my nose off. This is the substance that is oxidizing the mojanos.
I replaced one of the stainless stel electrides with carbon...
It would work on an elephant if you could get close enough and get the thiong into the water. ;D
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH yes, but it's cleaner, cheaper and quieter than grenades and look at the fun I am having.
