    Looking for used tanks

With the downtime, I wanted to build a bigger sump for the tank. I'm looking for a 40 breeder, and 2 20s or glass scraps at least 17.25"x 12". The 20s don't have to be water tight. I can do cash or some zoas polyps, not sure on thier names so it would have to be off a picture, lol. Update...

    Acclimating Mollies

Looks like some sand needs to get added to the refugium lol. I might just wait till I build a bigger acrylic sump before trying this out to give the fry a shot at living.

    Acclimating Mollies

How many would be able to fit in a 6g ref chamber, Eventually I do want to make this bigger as to add other macros and maybe a mantis shrimp, but what would be a good start for testing purposes?

    Acclimating Mollies

Has anyone tried and had success acclimating mollies to saltwater? I thought about trying some in the sump to eat up whatever is growing in it, and see if they breed.

    Salinity

Matching temperature is more for water changes, when you test the water before adding it to the tank, having a heater in it helps reduce shock and get a more accurate salinity reading. I am unsure if it affects the distilled water. If the lfs is open, you can get it double checked there if...

    Salinity

Compared testing with rodi and calibrating fluid, and there isn't a very noticable difference. It's important to test the salt water with equal temperature, as that will affect the salinity.

Apparently they are very hard to keep alive, but there are some crazy looking ones. I spotted some yellow ones growing near my torch, but not sure how they got there and even less sure how long they will live, lol.

    The members here rock

Forums and community definitely are a huge part of the hobby. Honestly, I'm sure more people who get into the hobby are likely to stay in it if they knew there were forums and local people to help them out.

Any thoughts or advice on this water test

Phosphates could be from the leeching rocks or the type of food you feed. Silversides are high in phosphates and ended up being a major contributor in my tank in the past.

    Advice on Custom building Sump

The higher the baffles are than the skimmer water depth is preferred as you can adjust the skimmer with egg crates or a stand under it. Dont make the baffle the exact height or lower than the skimmer water height recommendation. Make sure your heaters will be fully submerged 100% of the time.

    Advice on Custom building Sump

To add onto the mentioned feedback, plan out all your equiptment, even if your unsure you will use some of it down the road, and use the specs like dimensions, water depths, etc to dictate you chamber sizing. Also try to lay the equiptment out where its all easily accessible to make maintenance...
