Question to all:
So I have very limited space in my sump and was thinking about getting 2x heaters for some redundancy. What i need something around the 200watt range.
Can I get away with running 2x 100/150watt heaters so I can get a more condensed model that I can place in the sump?
I don't think it was the powerhead, typically fish can get away from a pumps in-take assuming they are in good health w/o issue (unless it's a massively oversized pump which that unit is not)
Have you checked the salinity?
Another thought could be the angel itself. If you didn't quarantine...
I have a temporary power head off to the side that I used just to mix the saltwater in the tank. I'll also need to pick up some new ones at some point before I add fish.
Now it's the waiting game. Tank is filled and cycling. I used Dr.Tim's one and only and it's Amonium Cloride to start it.
Ita been going for about a week now and although not ready yet, my pod order came earlier than expected so I just tossed them in. I can always replenish later on if I need...
Ikea also makes this plastic-ish peg sheet which I decided to use as a control board. This also allowed me to tuck in all my wires behind it to keep them out of view.
I'm planning on adding a heater and a wave maker controller down the line so this gives me some more wiggle room to expand.
Should be the last update before water goes into it.
Went to ikea and picked up some storage shelves and from there, I decided run all my connections, wires, power etc. out of one of the cabinets. This also allowed me to have extra storage space for the rest of my reef junk.
If that's what it is, I have personally used Reef Flux Fluconazole Treatment with success. What i will say is that you may need to treat the tank k for cyano afterwards.
The main issue I have found with them came with servicing the units. For example, there have been several times when I found my myself "arms deep" in my old Red Sea AIO just to swap out a bag of carbon. But that was minor and, in the end, it still gave me that cleaner look that I was looking for...
There's a convivence factor when it comes to an AIO unit. They're literally a plug n play option but that also leaves you with a limited space option should you feel the need to add some extras on (reactors, filters etc.). You may also have to deal with "things sticking out" of the tank which...
Also, the SCA 302 protein skimmer is too big for this sump so I'll need to pick up another one.
The way the sump was built, the skimmer can only fit in the front right chamber. Which would force me to relocate the return pump and Reefmat
