Sorry, I got blind :) - Your pH acutally dropped indoors when doing that? I'd expect it to rise no matter what, unless you have a ton of CO2 in the air.

The simply way to figure out if CO2 is causing your low pH is to bubble some tank water in a glass for an hour with an airstone. If that pH ends up higher than your tank's, you have too much CO2 in your water and could use better air exchange. M.

If it's 4 months in your tank and still alive, odds are it's opening at night... have you eyeballed it with a red light an hour or two after lights out? M.
