Thanks to absolutly fish on rt46 and uique pets in jersey city!

You could go with a dwarf angel in a 50 gallon with no problem. A flame, pygmy or coral beauty would be a beautiful addition to your tank and can go easily into a 50. You could also look at a reef safe wrasse.

Out of curiosity....Since the wrasse (if he chooses one), will be added AFTER the maroon clown, will they get along?

When we shop at multiple stores we need to be very careful to be sure they understand our systems prior to accepting their advice. They don't always remember the tank size or past purchases when recommeding another.

When we're new to the hobby that can be a daunting task, but the more familiar you are with your tank the more easy it will be for you to be your own best advisor!

Glad you're on the right path now!

It shouldn't be a problem to add a wrasse into a tank with a maroon. Another clownfish type/pair would be a big no-no in that tank, but a wrasse shouldn't be an issue.

Cardinal fish (CB), blenny, wrasses(if tank is covered) of the smaller variety, dottyback (with care, try for more gentle one), hawkfish(with caution), chalk bass, dwarf angel and chromis as previously mentioned. You could probably get away with one tang but would only suggest kole or tomini very small and with the expectation of upgrading or giving away eventually, but they will impact your bioload a lot more then the rest.
