75 Rimless! Mixed Reef, starting from the bottom!

New to the forum, but have 5 years of experience in reefing, mostly Zoas, Softies and LPS ;)

75 Gallon Rimless Reef Build
20 Gal long sump
1 1/2’ Bulk Head -Drain
1’ Bulk Head-Return
100lb Dead Sand
120lb Dead Rock
4 Bulb t5 Current USA Fixture until I start my LED Build and Cycle is coming to an end.

Here’s the process so far... Basically started from the bottom now we here
Started cycling the rock in a 34 gal tub everything was bone dry and dead, left it to cycle and ghost fed a few times over the course of 3+ weeks. In the mean time, got materials to build the stand from scratch. Stand sits 3ft high * 6ft long * 2ft wide. The stand is also a bar with a built-in martini glass rack! :D
Stand is finally stained and ready for the tank to sit on it. Did leak test on tank and sump everything went smooth! Filled the display with 80lbs of sand and 20 went to the sump, added about 90lbs of the now dead rock cycled to life, did a crazy looking aquascaping with the unique pieces of porous and branched as well as shelf rock. The remaining went to the sump. Old cycled water was added as well as newly mixed water which is at 1.025. The water was a bit cloudy and the return was too powerful, kicking up sand so I ended up getting a splitter and added a few more knuckles to send flow is separate directions as well as slowing it down. Added a dead shrimp to sink it up and continue the cycle. Tank is now 2 weeks into the cycle today. Iv’e been doing random water testing and the ammonia and nitrate have been jumping around with nitrate spiking the most currently sitting at about 30-40. I've been basically running the light every time I'm home so I can watch my beautiful aquascaping lol pics to follow as well as progress from here on out... Stay tuned for updates (Dance)

We should explore (and practice) this vodka dosing in more details during the next club meeting..Let's call it 'vodka dosing meeting'. Of course, everyone should bring their favorite ...

Love the build, and love the aquascaping. Should get a B/W clown to pair up with it. Hopefully you'll get a Naked Midnight clown from the spawn and be able to sell it for 100$+ :p
