Acrylic Help

Hi all, I need help cutting plexi and building my sump, I have asked for help in the past but now I am getting desperate. I am trying to build a sump/refugium for my 46 gallon tank which has been on hold now for too long. I have the plexi and a cutting tool but have not been able to cut it without it breaking and it's starting to cost me a fortune. I really need some help. I know fellow club members help members in need.... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

i dont know if these will help with your cutting problem but i know they will cover glueing. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=169326
i also rember reading somewhere that acrilic will eventually turn yellow, brittle, and crack or atleast easier than acrilic. i could be wrong though. if it's costing you THAT much money, why don't you just get a local shop to cut it for you? hope this helped and good luck!!! ;D

If it comes down to it, I can cut them (baffles) for you and send them back with your overflow. LMK before you buy anymore acrylic.

You should be using a tool that's made for the job and not a regular utility knife.

Or even just the blade for your utility knife.

I use a framing square and score along that one or two passes. Then I remove the square and score additionally until I'm 1/3 rd to 1/2  threw the sheet. Then hang the sheet over the edge of the table with the score line just past the edge of the table and snap the piece off. It should snap along the score line. (Actually, thats how I use to do it. Now I run the sheets through my table saw and router.) HTH

Hey Rich,
The second picture of the cutter is similar to the one I was using. Thank you for the offer but Mike ( michaelm2431 ) from RC came down with a radial miter saw and cut the baffles for me, he even brought me a frag of brown sps, thanks Mike :) he's a real nice guy, hope to see him at some meetings.
