AI question

Having received the new AI Sol from the group buy I have now realized that the fan in my first one doesn't work. I knew it didn't come on before but I haven't run them long and just thought that it only came on when the fixture warmed up. When I plugged the new one in, the fan came on and stayed on. So, which is right?

The fans on mine did not come on until I really turned up the intensity of the lights and the fixtures warmed up. Try turning the light on a higher intensity and let it run for a while. If the fan still doesnt come on, there is something wrong...

I have been having overheating trouble w/ one of my modules. They sent out a new fan, and that did not fix it. They sent out a new board, and that did not fix it. I am wondering what there is left to replace if anything.

BTW, my fans only run when the modules start to heat up, when throttling up to higher intensities.

I just updated the firmware on them last night and had myself a thunderstorm. Pretty freakin' awesome! It's making me crazy havong all this stuff here! I need to set up my tank!!!!

My Kids keep asking me when the lights are coming so we can have a thunderstorm. I showed them a couple YouTube videos of the lights. Pretty Cool. The one thing that the Radion's have over the AI is that you can connect them to your pumps and when the lightning storm comes it makes the pump go wild!

Eh, I don't really see that as an advantage. How often are you going to do the thunderstorms? I can't imagine that it will be that much. More of a novelty than anything IMO. I do like that you can set it for how much of a "chance" there is for a storm. Maybe set it to 5% chance and have it once a month or so.

Another question. Anyone ever replace a puck on their AI? One of mine has a wonky white LED. Looks kinda yellow. Not sure if it involves soldering or anything like that.

I fully agree with Howze. The lightning effect and the turbulent water effect are solely for a “people-pleasing” showing off all the bells and whistles that come with the light. Now, if one of the bells and whistles was the ability to make a good cup of coffee, I might consider one of these lights.

Every animal I know, including Man, is fearful of lightning. Why would we want to subject our fish to such an experience? I believe in providing the fish with a Nirvana like environment, where all is well and good. When I eventually do go to LED’s, no lightning or turbulent waters for me (unless you what me to show it off. :grin:)

I also agree. It is a cool thing to show off...

I will probably not set mine when I get them to have a storm regularly, but may do it just to show them off.
