So my clown decided to host the new hammer I just picked up.... at least I think so

She’s pressing her head into it and it looks like she’s biting at it but she isn’t actually swimming through the coral.

The hammer is kinda angry now and is retracted to about 70% if it’s total size.

I’ve heard of clowns killing euphilla by hosting before. Can I stop her from doing it??

My clowns are vicious, they bite me, if I place a new coral they will push the coral off the rock. If they can’t push it off they will bite the coral and try to tear it. They suck!!

do they eventually stop? does it cause harm to the coral? mine has shown no interest in any of the other corals I have ever added.

edit: I was thinking about getting an anenome anyways, should I get one and try to make the clown host it instead to avoid further harm to the hammer?

Definitely keep your eyes on it shouldn't be that bad, the coral can get use to it. My large maroon that's in my frag tank uses just about any corals that resemble anemone as a host, feel bad that every single piece of coral it chooses I ended up selling lmao. Ask Joe he makes fun of it because he calls it every time.

Well, timing is everything.
Just took this pic after I read the post.

Here's my dying clown that I pulled from my main earlier today (bout 5pm) and transferred to my fragger to try to save.
Don't think its gonna happen.

Cause of eminent death?
Its tank-mate, clown, same species, decided to destroy it starting yesterday afternoon.
I left it in there today hoping things would calm down. They didn't, I should have known better.

aww sorry to hear

Hahaha Alex's big maroon clown is hilarious. Everything he claims ends up being sold next. Poor guy.

As for clowns using things as hosts. Mine sleep in my cup and during the day they are all up in my frogspawn. They also like to bite me within a foot radius of their "territory"

I have a clown who hosts in all my euphyllia, he just wants to snuggle everything. they eventually stopped reacting to his pressence. All is good now.. Good luck!

Can you move the piece to the other side of the tank? It may deter them from trying to host

There's no guarantee that they'll host a nem. Mine hosts my big chalice with a nem in the tank

Thankfully the clown seems to have lost most interest in the hammer and the coral was fully extended and happy today. Hopefully this doesn't happen again!
