Anthias questions

Which Anthias have a violet or purple color?

Of those which are compatible with shrimps, crabs and snails?

Are they easy to care for and how many females to match with a male?

They'll be kept in a tank with a yellow tang, a sailfin tang, and a six line wrasse. Will there be any problems?

I have been reading a lot about these guys and it really depends which ones you go with. Some of them say 1 male to 6 females and some say 1 male to 8 females and some even say to only be kept by themselves. I think you need to find the type you like and then go from there.

purple queen anthias are good candidates for your description. I find them hard to keep though, and are the larger anthias. Bartlett's have some purple in them, but are also a beautiful yellow color, i find them easier to keep than the purples which I've had before.

With anthias, you can keep a harem of females, which the dominant one turns ino a male, but takes time. 1:3 or 4 is a good ratio, both for your pockets and a tank preferably larger than 90 gallons

Anthias stick to themselves and since they live in mid waters of the reef, the tangs will not bother them as they are mid-lower grazers.

What happens if you keep just 2?

I stopped at Petco a few weeks ago and got pretty lucky, they had 2 female Lyretail's ($16 each) picked them both up and they both are doing fine, the smaller one is a bit more active than the larger one, I plan on adding a few more at some point but just curious what would happen if I kept only the 2?

they should be ok, they just like to keep company with other schooling fish. I have a singled female lyretail that chills with the bartletts on occasion, most of the time she likes hanging under one of the ledges I created on my LR pillars.
