James, don’t mean to highjack…by the way, I’m into the marital arts…much more difficult and painful than martial arts…you still get belts, but they usually turn black and blue. ;D

Anyway, I tore my meniscus about two years ago on the soccer field. The surgeon was able to get away with just shaving it, and therefore the recovery was about 1 ½ - 2 months. If he had to stitch it up, 3+ months for recover. He didn’t know what had to be done until he was in my knee with the scope. If you are looking for an orthopedic guy, let me know. I also highly recommend PT. I went real heavy on the physical therapy because I needed to get back on the field ASAP. With you being in good shape will definitely help.

Thanks I have an appointment with the Knicks team doctor Friday .. the local yocal annoyed me. I definately will do my PT, actually started doing some recomended stuff. I did a lot of yoga also so hoping that it helps.

BTW Chris my sensei has a great our school, has been open for 35 years. Very traditional.

Ive been doing brazilian jiu jitsu for the past year and a half. had to stop in August due to issues with my health insurace but now I am back and really excited. Im a blue belt. Now just have to decide what school to go to, i had to move from north jersey so i might not go back to my old school.

man you must be losing your mind! BJJ is an addiction i love it. Where did you train? I trained with Mike Mrkulic in Montclair.

Many moons ago I trained in MMA with Alex Wilkie.

Although I have not seen or trained with Alex for many years, he was extremely good when I went there.

Alex trained with the Gracies directly for BJJ.

If I was still in his area, and still had the time, I would definitely be going to his school.

I train Drunken KA-RAZY with my brothers all the time. Our belts are black and blue. Usually under the eyes. We also throw fireballs. :).

Seriously tho, I did karate for a few years to keep limber because I'm a big guy. I want to get my 3 year old into something that he might like.

Many moons ago I studied Lung Jop Pai, a Northern Dragon Style Kung Fu. After that, Phyl and I studied Shaolin Kung Fu .

I really miss it and would love to get my kids into a good Kung Fu school. Unfortunately, there aren't any close to us.
