Anyone Feel Guilty

Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone else felt guilty or like they were offending their tanks if they happen to turn on a light near the tank prior to the tanks actinics coming on? or whatever lighting you have. I have moonlights on my nano and I feel like if I turn on a light near the tank that illuminates the tank ahead of time, that I am waking everyone up early. How do you guys feel about it or do you not care at all.. lol.. silly I know. Just wondered if anyone else felt this way? LOL..

Kind regards,
Mynd

I have the same feeling that you do since my Nano is located in my smallish home office and I always start "work" before the moonlights go off and the mains come on. I simply turn off the moons, go about my biz and wait for the mains to turn on. Hasn't hurt anything in the reef, so I try not to give it another thought. :p

I've never even thought about that. I put lights on for a little while at 5:30am near the big tank. Usually nothing even stirs at that point. Our lights don't come on until around 2pm.

I do feel guilty for other reasons but that's another thread completely.

I turn my lights on a little before the actinics go on. My fish are already out and about in the dark ... at least some of them anyway.

Why would you feel guilty? Moon lights are just a fad and certainly do not mimic the real Moon, not to mention that many fish that do utilize Moon cycles (clowns for example) are probably tank raised and have no clue what Moon is.

I wounder how my corals and fish feel when my fuge light comes on at 9pm and off at 5am? I have a bare bottom tank and the light shine right through the bottom glass.

Same here. Plus my fish go to bed when I go to bed.

I can relate to Mynd. I, too, feel guilty if I have to turn the lights on if all other lights in the room are off. :-[ I feel I'm disturbing the fish, or scaring them.
