I really enjoyed last years trip to Macna and would like to go every year. Unfortunately I really have no desire to go to Iowa, even to go to Macna. They really need to choose a venue and city that is appealing to visit.

I went to Iowa once, that was enough corn to last a lifetime. ;)

I'm having trouble with the numbers...
$428 R/T airfare, with at least one stop in Chicago, or a 17 hour 33 minute one-way drive, with a $150 Entry and at least $91 a night for the hotel.

Anybody know how many people are signed up to attend?

I did both times, lots of stuff to do in AC and Florida. What is there to do in Iowa?? I made a vacation out of the trip to FLA. Doesnt help that there are no direct flights from EWR to DSM.

I'm with you Ed, when I go to MACNA, I never leave the hotel. I go for socializing (catch up with people I have not seen in a year) and the speakers. That's most of the fun!

Don't know about everyone else, but I have to think about my NON-REEFER family. This is my hobby and the wife and kids are not into it as much as I am.

I like Iowa, but why would I go there to listen to the same few scientists and the reef geeks that are more entertainers than experts talk about the same old stuff!

I know, I need more fiber in my diet!;D But it seems to me the hobby isn't making much progress lately.

And I don't see LED's as big progress. ;) I'd rather stay home and look at my own tanks.

I also wish the Iowa club the best of luck in hitting their numbers….I know we were right on the cusp in AC when we sponsored. Hopefully they don’t have some of the expenses we had.

+1, Id rather dump the 6-700 into my tank then go there for the same old thing. dont get me wrong, If it were closer id pop in, ac was great.
