I saw this skimmer for sale on another forum and was wondering on opinions. It comes with 2 pumps, one is for water re-circulation.

I currently have the Aqua Medic Multi TurboFlotor which is HOB but was told can be used in-sump by manufacturer.

Here is a pic of the one I was going to Buy:

Thanks,

how much are they selling it for?

a) it looks like it will consume a lot of room in the sump
b) the cup does not have an exhaust port for overflow. That means if your skimmer goes crazy ( and it will) all that stuff will bubble right over the cup.
c) it looks pretty poorly made when viewing the latest cone-type skimmers. I think when I wanted to jump into this hobby in the early 90s (2 decades ago) turboflotor were the latest and greatest skimmers then.

But I know you are good at tinkering with equipment - so if the price is right - it's probably a step in the right direction. Honestly I feel like a good skimmer could make a lot of headway to reducing the nitrates in your tank, ergo help to keep more fish/corals alive.

I've heard good things about the skimmer that you have. It was actually one of my choices when I was looking for a skimmer but primarily because it is a HOB option.

Why not look at something like a SWC, Bubble Magus, or reef octopus? Yes there a little more expensive but in all honesty, I just searched reef central for these and as far back as 2009 they were being dumped for $75 with pump and more recently for 30 without the pump.

I think everyone I have spoken to is right. Just keep saving for a much better skimmer.
Phil, I have that overflow problem now anyway. It is priced at $50.
